Rush Peak remains one of the highlights of trekking in the Hunza and Nagar region from where one is able to have a distant glimpse of K2 mountain on a fine day. Following the fast-running streams from Hoper valley to Rush Lake, one follows the ridge behind the lake that offers superb views down into the Hisper gorge and panorama of Golden Peak, Malubiting, Miar all of Hunza with Ultar and Passu peaks all of Nagar and the mountains to the north of the Hisper. On a clear day, one can have views of K2, Broad Peak, and G-IV. Nowhere else in the Karakoram can one get such magnificent views on such a short trek in Hunza Valley.

Rush Lake is a turquoise lake on a ridge between Hispar Valley and the Barpu Glacier. Rush Lake trek offers an incredible panoramic view especially from the 5098m Rush Peak one can have a 360° view that almost includes all the main peaks in the Hunza and Nagar region. Distant eastward views of K2 Mountain, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum- IV and views to the northeast in the Hispar Muztagh massif which includes peaks like the Lupgar Sar, Momhil Sar, Trivor, Mulungutti Sar, and Distaghil Sar add to the magnificence of this relatively short trek. Its pure indulgence in the marvel of nature totally awe-inspiring mountain panorama!

Rush Lake is the best trekking route in Hunza Valley for beginners and equally fascinating for experienced trekkers as one can climb Rush Peak (5,098 m) above the Rush lake. Rush Lake trek starts from Hopper Valley located across Hunza River. Hopper is a marvelous village with irrigated terraced fields known for fruit orchards and the production of potato seeds.

During the Hunza Rush lake trek, you can come across the junction point of two famous glaciers of Barpu and Bualter. It is an interesting story that local legends talk about the gender of these glaciers of being male and female and also about their meetings and birth of the new glaciers. Rush Lake trek has a lot to offer but the incredible Rush lake and view from Rush Peak is truly unparalleled with surrounded by countless peaks above 7000 m and also a glimpse of K2 Peak in the far distance on a clear day.

Rush Peak is a mountain in the Karakoram mountain range in the Nagar valley of Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan. While not a high peak by local standards it is noted worthy as a remote trekking destination. It can be reached via Nagar Valley and Hopper Valley. The Rush Peak can be accessed via Hoper Glacier (Bualtar Glacier) and Barpu Glacier. Rush Peak is relatively easy to climb in the summer months and ascents have been made by amateur climbers without proper mountaineering gear. During the winter months, access to the mountain is made difficult by heavy snows. From the top of Rush Peak, it provides stunning views of Miar Peak, Miar Glacier, and Phuparash Peak On a clear day one can look east and see some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2 and Broad Peak. At the mountain’s base lies one of the world’s highest alpine lakes, Rush Lake at (4,694m).
